Hi there! My name is Abby Normal and I need your help to make me feel better.

About Me: Hi there!  I’m Abby Normal (Thanks to “Young Frankenstein” for my name!) and I am a 5 year old All-American Mutt!  I live in Mishawaka (IN), love my person Mark, and my best dog friend in the world Max the Wonder dog -- I think I am one of the luckiest dogs alive!  I am quite the talker and make all kinds of unique sounds to express what I’m thinking!  I like running and playing in the backyard with Max the Wonder Dog, barking for no reason at all, chasing my cat friends around the house, barking, going for walks with my person, barking some more, lounging in the sunshine on warm summer days, giving big sloppy wet dog kisses, barking, digging holes in the dirt when I am really really excited and in a playful mood (Man, my person never seems to like it when I do that!), and hey, did I mention I like to bark?

About My Person: My person, Mark, has been described by many as one of the nicest people you will ever meet!  Ya, I think he’s pretty okay too because he adopted me and takes wonderful care of me!  He also promised me that no matter what it takes (missing a house payment, picking up additional hours at his second job, selling his Harley-Davidson) that he will find a way to make sure I get the surgery I need because, well just because he’s that kind of a great person.

What My Vet Says: My fantastic vet, Dr. Vogel, from University Park Veterinary Hospital says that I have a torn ACU in my rear left leg.  He gave my person Mark two options – either put me down or have surgery.  My person, Mark, choose the surgery without even hesitating and I’m sure glad about that because he looked so sad when the vet said put me down!  Dr. Vogel said that I will be fully recovered in 3-6 months and should be about 95% the same dog I was before I injured my leg.  I may get up a little slower and not be quite as fast but other than that I should be good to go!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How Much Money Is Needed For Abby Normal’s Surgery?

A: I’m an expensive girl and my medical bills and surgery will cost approximately $2000.

Q: How Much Can I Donate?

A: You can donate as much, or as little, as you like – $1, $5, $10 or more.  It is entirely up to you.

Q: Do You Only Accept Donations Through PayPal?

A: No, if you would like to make a donation but do not have a PayPal account you can simply send a check or money order to my person:

Mark Josselyn

510 N. Oakland Ave.

Mishawaka, IN  46544

Q: Is My Donation Tax Deductible?

A: Regretfully, I don’t think so.  But I’m just a dog and not an accountant so what do I know about tax laws?  However, it is going to a great cause and if you do decide to contribute I know that I and my person, Mark, will never be able to thank you enough!

Q: What Will Be Done If The $2000 Goal Is Not Reached?

A: My person, Mark, tells me that whether we receive $2 or $2000 that I will still have the surgery I need to have no matter what.  Mark has also told me that if he needs to sell all of his personal possessions or even get a third job as a male gigolo that he will make sure that I am well taken care of and always happy and healthy!  And by the way, if my person Mark attempts to become a male gigolo it’s not going to be pretty – imagine someone resembling Drew Carey in that line of work! Yikes!

Q:What Happens If You Raise More Then The Necessary $2000?

A: Any money received that exceeds my medical and surgery amount will be equally donated to two of my favorite local pet adoption organizations – www.petsconnect.org (which I came from!) and www.petrefuge.com.

Q: How Long Will This Website Be Up?

A: At present, this is a simply a website designed to help me, Abby Normal, get the surgery I need so it will probably not be around long.  However, if the response is good my person, Mark, may consider continuing the website and update it for other local individuals who have unforeseen medical bills for their best pet friends too.  We have no problem helping others out who are in the same unexpected situation.

Q: What Is Your Favorite Quote?

A: My person Mark’s favorite quote is from Bruce Almighty: “If you want to see a miracle happen, be the miracle.”   This website is our attempt at a “miracle” and we truly appreciate any help it provides.
